May is for Music at The Pen Parentis Literary Salons! Join us at our special 18th season closer with composers Fran Pado, Jenny Merkowitz, Liz Queler, and Kala Pierson as they blur the lines between literature and music, using both original and classic poetry as a template in creating their own groundbreaking work.
Since January 2009, Pen Parentis Literary Salons have engaged audiences in glamorous downtown locations with witty and interesting readings by groups of established writers who happen to also be parents. Gathering monthly to share their often wryly humorous insights into the Sisyphean task of writing novels while bringing up baby—the group features readings by authors who are parents, discussion about these writers’ works, and strategies regarding how to stay on creative track after starting a family.
Salons are curated by Christina Chiu of Pen Parentis who won a prestigious Wei Look Award for the diversity of the artists she assembles. She co-hosts with Pen Parentis Founder, M. M. De Voe. Both hosts are also writers.
