Guess and Check is a collection of autobiographical stories by Thaddeus Rutkowski, who grew up in central Pennsylvania and now lives in New York. The narrative moves from his experiences as a biracial child in Appalachia, to his arrival in the city, to his eventual fatherhood. Kirkus Reviews has called the book “a stark, engrossing, Hemingway-esque portrait of a life spent in the margins.”
