Premiered at the Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington DC, “Butoh Blossoms” is a magic act in one hour. Things will levitate; Butoh will blossom, petals will fall into a bathtub. No dream left behind.
The Vangeline Theater is a dance company firmly rooted in the tradition of Japanese Butoh while carrying it into the 21st century. Eschewing the movements typical of modern dance forms, Vangeline’s Butoh performances are deeply evocative, humorous and grotesque.
