BUTOH INSTRUCTION NEW YORK with VANGELINE THEATER

Butoh is an avant-garde performance art form which originated in Japan in the 1950’s. Vangeline’s Butoh class incorporates Japanese Butoh, Bio-energetics, core energetics, elements of Noguchi gymnastics, and guided imagery to offer a high-energy workshop adapted to each group’s level of physical fitness.

Vangeline has taught Butoh for the past nine years at New York University, Brooklyn College, Cornell University, the Neighborhood Playhouse, Capoeira Angola, Bayview Correctional facility to name a few. This unique training is an invaluable tool for dancers, actors, adult beginers, encouraging participants to open up and expand physically and energetically. This workshop creates a gentle and supportive environment to start an individual and collective process of investigation through creative movement.
