7:30 – 10:30PM

From the most humble ethnic food cart to the hottest new restaurant with a six-month waiting list, New York proudly wears its diverse food culture like a badge of honor. And the thousands of anonymous workers behind the scenes—the restaurateurs, cooks, vendors, purveyors—are the true heroes in the daily miracle that feeds New Yorkers’ love affair with food. In her engaging and informative oral history Food and the City, journalist and bestselling author Ina Yalof talks to a wide range of people who are at the heart of food in this inimitable city. Greenlight is thrilled to partner with Berg’n, the beer hall and eatery from the creators of the Brooklyn Flea, to host Ina in conversation with some of the great food folks featured in her book: Charlie Sahadi, the second-generation Lebanese American owner of the iconic Brooklyn retailer Sahadi’s, established in 1948, and Wilson Tang, who left a career in finance to take over the Nom Wah Tea Parlor, established in 1920.
