The annual Korean American Film Festival New York (KAFFNY) proudly celebrates its seventh edition as the only artistic program of its kind in New York dedicated to the Korean War and North Korea in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the Korean War Armistice.This year’s festival runs October 24-26th at Village East Cinema. Hit up the Opening Night Party at Fat Buddha after the screenings.— Our spotlight Shorts Competition Program, opening up for CJ Entertainment’s PLUTO on Friday, October 25th.— The closing night screening of THE OTHER SIDE OF THE MOUNTAIN, the first U.S.-North Korean co-production, entirely shot in North Korea — with a North Korean cast and crew! — on Saturday, October 26th, with a closing night party at Le Bar Midi Bistro.Festival highlights include LETTERS FROM PYONGYANG by emerging Korean Canadian filmmaker Jason Lee, the world premiere of the documentary FADING AWAY by Christopher H.K. Lee, Jose Luis Garcia’s controversial character study THE GIRL FROM THE SOUTH, a special tribute to the pioneering Korean film curator Dong Sin Hahn, and so much more.Additional events (including a very special music component) will be announced shortly.
