Kayagum Artist and Protector of the Late Kayagum Master "Dae Bong Yoo(1905-1945)" Style
Ms. Yoon Sook Park’s name is synonymous with Korean traditional arts in New York City having established KMTDI over 25 years ago. Before immigrating to the US from Korea, she spent over 25 years studying Kayagum (traditional Korean string instrument), Pansori (Korean opera) and dance with many of Korea’s leading artists. Her expertise lies in the style of the late Kayagum master, Yoo, Dae Bong. Ms. Park has won numerous awards and performed in over 1,800 concerts all over Asia and the U.S. A career highlight was her solo recital at Washington Smithsonian Museum in 1993, Duke University theater in North Carolina in 1996, Carnegie Weill Recital Hall in 2004, Private Charity Party at Metropolitan Museum in 2005, Egg theater in 2008, Jacob’s Pillow in 2010~2011, etc. Ms. Park is also very passionate about spreading the awareness and appreciation for Korean arts. Ms. Park, as only disciple of the late Kayagum Master "Dae Bong Yoo" continues on the legacy of his style by performing extensively in the tri-state area and internationally. This KTMDI’s 25th Anniversary performance will climax the programs with Park’s disciples and KTMDI’s instructors and students with real authentic Korean music and dance.
