Kinya Sogawa will guide participants in crafting their own
unique shakuhachi from raw bamboo stock, from the beginning stages of cutting and drilling, to refining the mouthpiece, tuning finger holes and shaping the inner bore. After an introduction to the techniques of blowing and sound production, participants will be able to leave with their own functional natural
shakuhachi!
Participants should have experience working with hand tools, and preferably with cutting bamboo. Please wear comfortable clothes. Max 15 people. Observer tickets may be available for this workshop after regular tickets have sold out.
