Event Description

Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU) presents their annual and extremely popular Raising Money for Theater: Who, How and When to Ask” workshop, on Saturday, February 6th, 2016 from 10am to 6pm at The Playroom Theatre, 151 W. 46th Street, 11th floor, NYC.

It's a new year filled with new opportunities, so take those theater projects off the back burner and move ahead. For producers and self-producing artists, that means finding the money and resources to bring your shows into production. We invite you to acquire some basic tools and crucial information that will help you to function effectively in hard times and the better days that are on the way. From pitching techniques and presentation skills to effective business planning and legal requirements (including a special segment about the new tax laws and the JOBS Act and how they impact theater), plus a wealth of first-hand experience from producers who are currently active in the Broadway and off-Broadway worlds, this promises to be an informative, empowering and inspiring day.

Workshop faculty will include Broadway producers Michael Alden (Disgraced, Becoming Dr. Ruth, Grey Gardens, The King’s Speech on stage, Bat Boy), Jane Dubin (An American in ParisAbsolute Brightness of Leonard Pelkey, Peter and the StarcatcherAnn, The 39 Steps), RK Greene (Peter & the Starcatcher, A Time to Kill, Cougar, Room Service), Jeremy Handelman - unconfirmed (On the Town, F#@king Up Everything), producer/investor James Simon (Hand to God, Something Rotten, Pippin); plus attorneys Lisaroxanne Walters and Erach Screwvala, and financial advisor Bailie Slevin.
