Resistance is Existence: New York Youth Story Slam

Saturday, March 11, 2017
6 – 9PM

One of the most important things to do right now is to tell our own stories. To this end, City Lore and Muslim Writers Collective will be hosting an evening of dynamic storytelling on Saturday, March 11, 2017.

Please RSVP here.

This event will feature 13-19 year olds in the New York area who can share genuine stories - stories that reflect awkward, poignant, frustrating, and joyful moments in their lives. All stories should be true, no more than five minutes long, and have a beginning, middle, and end. Beyond that, we’re keeping the guidelines intentionally open-ended, because we’re really excited to hear a diverse range of stories! Students interested in participating should submit an application here.

All applications are due on February 10th at 11:59pm EST.

Contact Sahar Muradi at sahar@citylore.org with any questions. Ny2s2: New York Youth Storytelling Slam is brought to you by City Lore, a non-profit committed to documenting, presenting, and advocating for New York City’s grassroots cultures, traditions, and places, in partnership with Muslim Writers Collective, a grassroots initiative dedicated to promoting storytelling in the Muslim American community.
