Event Description

One of contemporary jazz's most prolific and inspired alto saxophonists performing original work at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music. Rudresh Mahanthappa released "Codebook" on Pi Records in 2006. Critics remarked that it "demonstrates potent virtuosity and a mischievous streak," (AllAboutJazz) and was a " a thought-provoking set of fiery but coherent music." (AllMusic)

Joining Mahanthappa will be the Codebook Quartet, comprised of the same members that played on the record. This stellar set of musicians include pianist Vijay Iyer, bassist Francois Moutin and drummer Dan Weiss.
