CRS (Center for Remembering & Sharing) invites you to a concert by our dear friend and frequent collaborator the pianist and singer songwriter Saco Yasuma celebrating the New Year and the release of her new album “AS IT IS is Beautiful.” The concert will take place on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at 2 pm at CRS.

Saco’s ensemble features Sakurako Kataoka (spoken words), Michael TA Thompson(percussion), Kevin Nathaniel (mbira, shekere, and spoken words), and the One Note One Spirit Choir. As a special guest, the fiber artist Nobuko Tsuruta will create Saco’s costume and the installation for “Celebration!”

Saco Yasuma is a Japanese-born and NY-based singer-song writer. She sings about humanity as a part of nature and the universe, and our inner peace and freedom. The album “AS IT IS is Beautiful” was released in June 2018, features songs in Japanese and English. Since Saco loves the nuance, sound and vibration of Japanese, which is her native language, she writes and sings in Japanese. Listeners will experience feeling the vibration of the language, while the songs are interpreted in English poetic narratives. Previously, she has released two albums as a saxophonist, and this is her first album as a singer. http://sacoyasuma.com
