South of Gold Mountain

May 13 – May 14, 2016
7PM

H.T. Chen and Dancers present two encore performances of their dance/theater work “South of Gold Mountain,” an impeccably researched story of the thousands of Chinese settlers lured to America, starting in 1850, by the promise of gold and a better life. The work has been created by H.T. Chen and Dian Dong, and is drawn from rich oral histories, treasured images, and official and private documentation. The husband and wife team celebrate their ancestors’ accomplishments in this major work.
