STOP, UNRAVEL, ABSORB

April 20 to May 20, 2016 Gallery Korea of the Korean Cultural Center New York

Opening reception: April 20, 2016 at 6pm - 8pm

The Korean Cultural Center NY is pleased to present STOP, UNRAVEL, ABSORB, the group exhibition curated by Michelle Eunoak Kim for the first show of ‘Call for Artists 2016’. This exhibition brings together eight creative young artists; Bonjeung Koo, Inyoung Seung, Pablo Alvarez, Hojung Jang, Yikwon Peter Kim, Youngsu Lee, Bosuk Hur, Hyunjoo Yeun and their contemporary pieces across various platforms: painting, pen drawing, collage-making, installation, and architectural installation. The three words of the title, ‘stop,’ ‘unravel,’ and ‘absorb,’ represent the process of finding the fundamental meaning of life. These artists from different corners of the world took a moment to think, recognize and learn what their unique lives mean, and recreated their experiences through art. Through this exhibition, the viewers are given a chance to get a glimpse of and reflect on life through the contemporary works of the eight artists.
