Summer Institute in Balinese Performance

Learn Balinese music and dance from master Balinese artists this summer in Worcester, MA at the Summer Institute in Balinese Performance.

This week-long residential program, organized by New York’s Gamelan Dharma Swara and hosted at College of the Holy Cross, will offer daily workshops in a variety of gamelan and dance styles. Workshops will cater to different levels of previous training; performers and students of all levels of experience are welcome to attend.

All workshops will be led by world-renowned Balinese artists, including musicians Dewa Ketut Alit, Ida Bagus Made Widnyana, Dewa Ketut Alit “Tejur” Adnyana, and Gusti Nyoman “Komin” Darta, and dancers Cokorda Istri Putri Rukmini and Made Suteja.

The Summer Institute in Balinese Performance will feature: run from July 27 to August 2, and features:

daily hands-on workshops taught by master Balinese artists gamelan semara dana, gamelan gong kebyar, gender wayang, gamelan angklung male and female dance seminars related to Balinese performance special group events
