Works & Process at the Guggenheim announces the World Premiere of Works & Process Rotunda Project: Michelle Dorrance

Thursday, February 16, 2017
6:30 – 9:30PM

On Thursday, February 16, 2017 at 6:30pm, 8pm and 9:30pm, Works & Process presents the first Works & Process Rotunda Project, a new initiative, commissioning site-specific residencies and performances for the iconic Guggenheim rotunda. The Michelle Dorrance Rotunda Project will feature MacArthur Fellow Michelle Dorrance, one of the most sought-after tap dancers of her generation. Culminating a three-week rotunda residency, Dorrance leads a large cast of dancers and musicians from her company Dorrance Dance using dance and percussion to create a performative soundscape incorporating the rotunda as a musical instrument.

This 30-minute performance will be viewed from the ramps and requires audience members to stand for the duration of the program.

Leadership support for Works & Process Rotunda Projects provided by Mertz-Gilmore Foundation and Caroline M. Sharp.

Michelle Dorrance Rotunda Project is underwritten by Stuart H. Coleman and Meryl Rosofsky.
