Queens College celebrates the Year of Korea (2016-2017 Academic Year), and to commemorate this event and to support internationally renowned young flutist Jasmine Choi, the Korean Cultural Center New York and Queens College co-present this special concert.
Superstar flutist Jasmine Choi is renowned throughout Europe, Asia, and the United States for her brilliance in every musical genre. Named one of the “Top 10 Greatest Flutists in History” by Sinfini Magazine (UK), Choi is celebrated for her golden tone, highly sophisticated musicianship, and charismatic stage presence. She is a musical innovator who also writes her own transcriptions of great repertoire for other instruments. Choi earned a Master of Music degree from the Juilliard School, after which she was immediately hired at 22 as associate principal flute at Cincinnati Symphony. Six years later she moved on to Vienna Symphony’s principal flute chair; in 2013 she launched her solo career.
Jasmine Choi will collaborate with the New York Classical Players in two Vivaldi's Double concertos with an emerging violinist Su Hyun Park. Jasmine will also premiere Texu Kim’s newly composed Le Temps Déformé commissioned by NYCP. This program will also include a lush example of twentieth-century English composition, Momentum Suite by Peter Hope.
