Primary Responsibilities
The professor of painting will teach undergraduate courses in all levels of Painting and will serve as the area head for the BFA students in painting. In addition the position is required to teach courses in drawing as needed in the Art Department. The position will teach the equivalent of a 12 hour load equal to 3 studio courses per semester. Classes range in size from 12 to 25 students. There is the expectation that the candidate will continue personal scholarly research, participate in Department, College and University committee work, advise students, and work for the good of the entire department and the University.
Required Qualifications
•MFA in Fine Arts/Painting (Degree must be from a regionally accredited or internationally accredited/government certified university)
•Demonstrated active exhibition record
•Minimum of two years college level teaching experience
•Demonstrated experience or ability to teach figurative painting and life drawing
•Demonstrated experience or ability to introduce new media and technology in painting and drawing
•Proven commitment to the teacher-scholar model
•Demonstrated commitment to collegiality when interacting with others within the University community
•Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, and community
•Demonstrated commitment to working with multi-cultural populations and awareness of issues affecting women and minorities
Ideal candidates will be enthusiastic academicians able to document the development and maintenance of academic quality verified by measured student learning. Preference will be given to candidates who will embrace and promote innovative methods of course delivery, applications of technology, and progressive pedagogical methods such as online learning and blended course delivery.
