Rent a White Guy: A Modern China Fable Based on True Events, a new original musical presented as an Equity Showcase in September at the Secret Theatre. A young man from America who travels to China to meet his destiny as a fake businessman, among other things. Based on actual experiences from expats living in Beijing, this farcical, fantastical, musical adventure is sure to be fun for folks of any nation!

This AEA Showcase will run Sept 19-30 at The Secret Theatre in LIC, NY.

ALL ROLES--Must move/dance well. Ensemble will play multiple roles. Willingness to speak (or learn to speak) some Mandarin Chinese a plus.

Charlie (lead)--early 20s, attractive, friendly white guy down on his luck in life. 

Bridget (lead)--early-mid 20s, attractive, smart, silly white girl living in China, American accent. 

Xiao Li (lead)--30s-40s, slick Chinese businessman looking to rent a white guy for his company. MUST speak Mandarin.

Lily (lead)--early 20s, attractive, sweet, innocent Chinese girl looking to rent a white boyfriend for her birthday party. MUST speak Mandarin.

Mom (featured/ensemble)--40s-50s, cheerful, optimistic mother of Charlie who thinks he can do no wrong. 

Mr. Sun (featured/ensemble)--40s-50s, Chinese boss of company renting white guys. MUST speak Mandarin.

DaShan (featured/ensemble)--30s-40s, the most famous white guy in China, Canadian accent.

Xiao Hu (featured/ensemble)--20s-30s, Dashan's assistant. Shy, meek. MUST Speak Mandarin.

Milton (featured/ensemble)--20s-30s, step-brother of Bridget, spoiled son of Australian ambassador,

Claire (featured/ensemble)--20s-30s, British social butterfly living in Beijing. British accent. 

Simon (ensemble)--20s-30s, black American living in Beijing who is often mistaken for an NBA star. 

Bruce Lee (ensemble)--20s-30s, Korean American student living in Beijing who is often mistaken for a local (and Bruce Lee). MUST speak Mandarin.

Zhou Xun (ensemble)--20s-30s, Lily's protective cousin. MUST Speak Mandarin.

Chen JieJie (ensemble)--30s-40s, friendly Chinese school administrator. MUST speak Mandarin. Chinese accent. 

Miguel (ensemble)--20s-30s, Colombian IT consultant living in Beijing. Colombian accent. 

Karl (ensemble)--20s-30s, German actor living in Beijing. German accent. 

Alana (ensemble)--20s-30s, Russian marketing agent living in Beijing. Russian accent. 

Tanya (ensemble)--20s-30s, Black American teacher living in Beijing. American accent. 

Meimei (ensemble)--looks under 18. Chinese sister of Lily. Sweet and innocent like her sister. MUST speak Chinese.

I actually grew up in expatriate communities in Southeast Asia and I know quite a number of expats living in China. 

awesome! I lived in China for 4 years and traveled around Asia a lot too. :)
