Deadline: April 28, 2017
Public Programs Intern
El Museo is seeking a summer intern who is ready to expand their knowledge about the art and culture of Puerto Ricans and Latin Americans in the United States.
The intern will be immersed in El Museo’s Public Programs, an interdisciplinary department that works with all of the other museum departments. Through this collaborative internship, the student will gain experience curating events for public programming and supporting those programs with community engagement outreach. They will learn firsthand how to create and implement a program, how to conduct research that will be used for marketing purposes, and how to foster and improve community engagement practices.
The intern has strong independent research skills, an interest in Latin American communities and culture, and ideally has some knowledge of Latin American art. The intern should be comfortable engaging with the public, networking with museum professionals, and interpreting the public response to develop creative family programs. Preference will go to students with a demonstrated background in visual arts, art history, or a similar discipline.
To apply for this position, please send all required information listed under "How to Apply" to Richard Morales, Public Programs and Engagement Coordinator, at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please include “Arts Intern” in the subject line in your e-mail.
