Philadelphia-based Asian Arts Initiative issues open call for exhibition proposals

Philadelphia-based Asian Arts Initiative is pleased to issue a call for Community Curators, a new program to provide exhibition opportunities for visual artists, curators, and organizers exploring community issues and concerns. A “Community Curator” can be an individual artist, a professional curator, and/or a community representative or team who has an idea for an exhibition that they would like to make happen at the Asian Arts Initiative's street-front gallery in Center City Philadelphia.

We want to encourage artists, curators, and other constituents of Asian American Arts Alliance to submit proposals and think of Asian Arts Initiative's gallery as a space that is open and receptive to the cultural concerns and creative vision of the wider Asian American community both in and outside Philadelphia. We're especially interested in proposals that combine a community-minded focus (addressing timely and relevant cultural or social issues) with contemporary arts practice.

Please see attached files for the Community Curators program description and more information, as well as Community Curators application (rolling deadline).
