Position: Vice President, Controller
Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts (LCPA) serves three primary roles: presenter of artistic programming, national leader in arts and education and community relations, and manager of the Lincoln Center campus.
A presenter of more than 3,000 free and ticketed events, performances, tours and educational activities annually, LCPA offers 15 series, festivals and programs, including American Songbook, Free Thursdays at the David Rubenstein Atrium, Great Performers, Lincoln Center at the Movies: Great American Dance, Lincoln Center Festival, Lincoln Center Out of Doors, Midsummer Night Swing, Mostly Mozart Festival, White Light Festival, and the Emmy Award-winning Live From Lincoln Center, which airs nationally on PBS.
As manager of the Lincoln Center campus, LCPA provides support and services for the Lincoln Center complex and the 11 resident organizations. The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, The Film Society of Lincoln Center, Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Juilliard School, Lincoln Center Theater, The Metropolitan Opera, New York City Ballet, New York Philharmonic, The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, and the School of American Ballet, as well as Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.
Lincoln Center seeks a Vice President, Controller to lead its financial operations and services, supporting LCPA’s broad range of artistic and operational divisions. This position requires strong leadership, a deep understanding of accounting standards and systems, tax regulations and the ability to represent LCPA on many levels. This position reports directly to the Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, and is a key member of the senior management team.
The Controller will be responsible for enhancing systems and operating procedures to support LCPA’s programming, education and operations efforts, while continuing LCPA’s high standards of compliance with local, state and federal regulations. The Controller will have the leadership and managerial abilities to direct a staff of 22 in a complex office of high integrity, supervising accounting, payroll, accounts payable and receivable, procurement compliance, banking, budgets, investments, financial reporting and systems, audits and tax returns.
The Controller is expected to collaborate and develop strong relationships with peers throughout LCPA, LCPA’s constituent organizations and the greater NYC cultural and financial communities, keeping LCPA informed of peer practices and future regulatory challenges.
The Controller represents LCPA in its commercial banking relationships, and coordination of investments is in the position’s portfolio.
LCPA is seeking an energetic, innovative and seasoned individual with significant experience in a Controller role. The successful candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting standards, principles and financial reporting, as well as in accounting systems, with a proven track record of working across an organization to solve problems and advance the organization’s goals.
