a4Hub is a program of the Asian American Arts Alliance, a service organization supporting the work of Asian and Asian American artists in New York City since 1983. Learn more here

Question 2: Why Should I sign up?
The Asian American Arts Alliance's a4Hub is the virtual meeting place for artists and arts organizations in the Asian American artistic community of New York City. By signing up you can create your own profile and add images, videos and music to let others know about you and your work; get in touch with other members on via email and wall posts; comment on art work and forum discussions; and add your events. a4Hub is accessed by thousands of visitors monthly, including other artists, arts enthusiasts and donors. By having a profile on a4Hub and being active you can represent yourself to a large crowd and be part of shaping the conversation about what it means to be an Asian American artist in New York City today.

Question 3: How is this different from Facebook?
If you are familiar with Facebook you will find the process of setting up a profile and using a4Hub very easy. a4Hub is different from Facebook in that it focuses on artists and arts organizations, with functions tailored specifically to easily share art work, and it has several other functions such as the Urban Artist Initiative (UAI) Forum and the Online Calendar that are specific to artist issues, opportunities and events in New York City. We are connected to Facebook: you can "Like" Asian American Arts Alliance, and you can automatically share items that you like on a4Hub to your Facebook page once you have signed up.

Question 4: Do I need to be Asian or Asian American to join a4Hub?
No. The goals of a4Hub are to serve the Asian and Asian American artistic community in New York City but this does not limit joining based on your ethnicity. We are fully aware of the rich layers of connections that tie Asian and Asian American artists and arts organizations to other communities and vice-versa. In this sense we welcome the input and contributions from people who may not be Asian or Asian American but have a strong connection to the community here in New York City.

Question 5: Do I have to be based in New York City to join a4Hub?
a4Hub is primarily for artists and arts organizations based in New York City. If you are not in New York City, you are required to answer the profile question: "If you are not in New York City, what are your ties to New York's Asian American artistic community?" and provide evidence of your ties to the city's Asian American artistic community.
