In your own words, what is your ethnic identity? (for individuals)
I am Japanese American, striving to find the balance between the two cultures
Your Artistic Background/Mission
I am currently a story artist in animation and have been in the industry for 20 years. In my free time I do my own fine art which includes small glass art, drawings, paintings and prints, and also art crafts such as papermaking...
Your Creative Influences
My earliest influences were my parents. My mother taught me many crafts and my father loved to sketch. They hung artwork in our home and I was mesmerized by the images. I love animals and am inspired by nature and my environment.
Formally, my art influences include Degas, Sorolla, Lalique and a few Russian Realists.
My Asian art influences are Yoshitoshi, Zhu Wei and BaDa Shanren
