Your Artistic Background/Mission
Promote, Preserve Yound Haitian artist, our customs and traditions. after the earthquake of January 10, 2012 we have lost quite a bit in our cultural heritage. Looking through pictures I realized that our way of lives has definitely changed and we must find a way to preserve our oral tradition and customs. I was an assitant curator and seven years ago I have made the decision to take the leap into the world of painting. I have cultured and create an awareness of what I am today.
Donald Giovany was raised in Port-au-Prince, Haiti in 1984 and live in New York. He started his percussive studies with Master Haitian Drummer Fritzner Augustin at Hunter College in 1992. In the summer of 1992, he joined the group and performed with La Troupe Makandal at Carnegie Hall, the 92 Y and The National Endowment For The Arts Awards Ceremony in Washington D.C.

Giovany is a also passionate poet and artist. He received Several Awards for his poetry. As an artist, Donald Giovany has exhibited in France, and New York mainly in Soho, Harlem and Spanish Harlem.

Giovany’s art and poetry is inspiring and uplifts. It encourages and invigorates everyone it touches. His paintings and poetry is the soulful expression that transcends life and beauty into the essence of his lifelong experience in the Universe.

Giovany’s artistic expression seeks to bridge two separate worlds and create a link to his cultural heritage.
Your Creative Influences
Monet, Ralph Allen, Edouard Wah, Frisner Augustin. I combine the element of nature with our traditional custom of vodou to express myself on a canvas. My painting are also based on the environment and nature.
