Nakanaka: On Ensemble from LA, mixes Japanese taiko, throat singing with contemporary grooves and beats to create an original World sound. Yuka, a singer/songwriter from Sado Island Japan, bridges Japanese and English, folk and the avant-garde. With New York's Shanir Blumenkranz, Barbara Merjan and Kaoru Watanabe as well.This will be the final in the Nakanaka series until fall.See More

In this new installment of the Nakanaka series at Drom, bassist Fumio Tashiro aka Bomb Sun, Ty Citerman, guitarist for Gutbucket, sampler Michael Wilson and former Kodo member Kaoru Watanabe come together for set of improvisation and exploration. Featuring a wide range of acoustic and electronic instruments from the taiko drum, toys, found objects, loops and effects as well as video.
