In your own words, what is your ethnic identity? (for individuals)
I draw my concepts from my experiences being a bi-cultural (father is Japanese, mother is American of Irish/German descent) "Third Culture Kid," who grew up around the world.
Your Artistic Background/Mission
I use double entendre's (I love to incorporate clever word-play) and ideas to relate to my audience, not just culturally but emotionally and esthetically as well. This allows for a broad audience to have a personal and intimate relationship with my work.

As an artist, my aim is to bring people together through their differences; an issue I have dealt with personally all of my life.
Your Creative Influences
My artistic inspiration comes to me from all angles, anytime, day or night. A minor incident can spark a waterfall of ideas that floods my mind with thoughts, associations, and innovations. I love to experiment with different mediums, such as, coffee grounds, fire, spray-paint mixed with oil, and any other substance that inspires me. This openness to materials allows me to be innovative in the techniques I use; such as the "Brush Fire" technique I recently developed. In Brush Fire, I use a torch to burn images into and through my paintings, which was a huge success at my show at the Norwood Club in New York City.

Great to meet you at Town Hall. I see that you've put the Asian American Arts Alliance badge on your website - excellent! There's an "invite" tab in the tab section at the top of each page - you can invite friends directly from your personal email address book. Hope to see you at the next Town Hall on Aug. 3rd at Chen Dance in the evening (6-8pm).

Haruto, welcome to the Asian American Arts Alliance. If you are interested in meeting people in the community, the best place is Town Hall, which we do every month. The next one is planned for next Tuesday. Hope you can make it!
