Jesus in India at The Theater at St. Celements

February 12, 2013 at 7pm to March 10, 2013 at 5pm
Teenaged and wayward, a little confused and a little punk rock, Jesus of Nazareth journeys to the east with his friend, Abigail of Galilee, on the back of a camel. They cross the Hindu Kush to the Indo-Mathura, a region of spiritual innovation, new age music and really good weed. A contemporary parable that looks at the world’s most famous rebel before he found his cause.See More

Your Artistic Background/Mission
Ma-Yi is the most dynamic Asian American theater company in the country today. It was founded to develop new plays that explore and affect Asian-American experiences, and challenges the perceptions of what culturally specific theater should be by producing forward-thinking plays by today's
emerging playwrights. Ma-Yi strives to address the cultural and artistic
needs of the Asian American communities and artists in the tri-state area. Although most initiatives are basically Asian American, Ma-Yi forges ties with groups from other cultural backgrounds and experiences. The company believes that theater can play an important part in breaking down barriers
and increasing the understanding and appreciation of the cultural and ethnic diversity of our contemporary society.
