Your Artistic Background/Mission
When Nisha K. Sembi brings into fruition any form of art, she always delve into it with the idea that her resulting work will be a reflection of who she is. With any art, Nisha’s goal is to produce something that sheds light on the different elements that she embodies.
Having worked with youth in her motherland, Nisha focuses on drawing attention to the growing hip-hop movement in India. By combining Indian culture with hip-hop culture, she has channeled a new style called Kalakari (“Artistry”) through which she has been crafting acrylic paintings that break through traditional boundaries and defy the limits of our society through a process of decolonization.
Your Creative Influences
Indian culture, hip-hop culture, and political art.
