Srijan Dance Center (Suparc Inc.) has eighty regular dance and yoga students, who are seriously involved in learning Kathak, a form of Indian classical dance, and other Indian folk styles. It is one of the leading young dancers' groups in the tri-state area, which successfully introduces Indian culture to NYC libraries, museums, public schools, and other very important establishments, like the Lincoln Center. Srijan dance center is also actively involved in NYC Board of Education’s “Project Arts”, where it conducts story telling, yoga and dance workshops for the students, their parents and teachers.
Abha B. Roy is the director of Srijan Dance Center. She started her career as a classical dancer in 1984, after completing her diploma in Kathak under the able guidance of great Guru Late Kundan Lal Gangani and attained her professional perfection under the training of Late Pt. Durgalal in Kathak Kendra, New Delhi. She was teaching and performing in Guyana, Barbados, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago in South America through the Indian Council of Cultural Relations.
