In your own words, what is your ethnic identity? (for individuals)
Eurasian American -- Father is Korean. Mother is Greek.
Your Artistic Background/Mission
I create multi-media artwork about bringing together opposites, and keeping sympathy. I am interested in visual art that uses yoga and sound as a medium. The civics of politics and the inspiration of Sanskrit inform my work as a painter and performance artist. I have created and exhibited over 1,000 multi-media performances across the U.S. in art galleries and concert venues. My multi-media wall work is held in both private collections and public institutions including Feminist Art, Special Collections and Archives Gallery, Rutgers University. Recently, Ogilvy invited me to launch their YouTube Arts Channel: Create or Else.
Your Creative Influences
While artists like Lily Yeh and Tim Rollins & K.O.S. taught tactics, my parents exerted the greatest influence on my goals as an artist. Their fearless union shaped my unshakable faith in the sublime beauty of difference, and that the resolution of xenophobia is freedom, is happiness. My Korean father, a Professor of Eastern Philosophy and Library Director, and avid lover of art & archaeology, fostered my creative investigations into the unnatural order of things (he was Buddhist). My Greek mother, also an educator and librarian, gave me the love of the history of democracy and ancient languages (she was Greek Orthodox).
