"This gives food for thought for many peoples. Nice idea better than David Henry Hwang self-centered plays."

In your own words, what is your ethnic identity? (for individuals)
I call myself American first since I am diverse in many cultures derived from my experiences living in NYC for over 50 years. Originally, I grew up in Portland, Oregon and eventually grew up in NYC's Chinatown for about 15 years before traveling to various third world nations as a photographer and videographer.
Your Artistic Background/Mission
I studied western Art History in College during the student protests @ City College & Columbia U. After graduation, I worked 2 years for the Office of the Mayor under Lindsay's administraiton. After working 9-5pm, I participated with City Arts to paint large scale community murals and help organize Basement Workshop events that specialized in Asian American arts programs. After 2 years, I became an administrator at Basement, as a non-profit community arts organization and set up various exhibits on NYC's Chinatown and Japanese American Internment camps. During the Confucius Plaza demonstrations, I provided meeting spaces, mimeographed flyers, provided art materials, 16 mm cameras and film, etc. as well as documented the daily strikes.

Later, I freelanced in the advertising and graphics world for 15 years as well as travel & photograph Morocco; the Philippines during Marcos dictatorship; Nepal, India & China twice while working at the American Museum of Natural History. My last trip to Leh, Ladakh, India involved videoing the Buddhist Women's Conference for 2 weeks. My final travels has been to Puerto Vallerata, Mexico.

Presently, I have been documenting for 15 years the avant-garde Jazz musicians of Lower East Side which has expressionistic qualities. During the interim, I met many historic Black artists congregating at A Gathering of the Tribes. After the World Trade Center's collapse, I've curated a women's art show at Bullet Space, an original homesteaded building which had been abandoned during the 70s.
