Your Artistic Background/Mission
Yanghee Lee was born in Seoul, Korea and began her dance training as Korean dance when she was very youth. While at the Ewha Womans University, she created her own dance band called “The Limbo” and joined to the independent arts scene in Korea. Since it’s founding in 1997, The Limbo has been leading innovative performances at many experimental spaces as the one of the pioneers of independent cultural dance scene. With the breadth of creative expression, The Limbo had represented multidisciplinary performing art and collaboration with various interdisciplinary artists. In 2007, Yanghee Lee received her M. A. from New York University in USA and has performed as the one of the emerging artists from Korea based in New York City. She had performed for the DUMBO Dance Festival, DTW, La Mama, Barrow Theater and others in USA and many important theaters such as Korea National Theater, Seoul Art Center, and Arko Theater in Korea also. she, also had been selected for the international artist program of the Watermill canter while working with internationally well known as an avant-garde stage director, Robert Willson and she is currently in the Theatere C as an associate artist.
