Bliss on Bliss Art Projects looks back to it’s official launch last October 2011

We launched Bliss on Bliss Art Projects in October to coincide with Philippine Heritage month and invited Jessica Hagedorn, R Zamora Linmark and Paolo Javier to read from their latest books. Matthew Freundlich from Exit Art came and got to chat with International multi awardee Filmmaker Lav Diaz and his friend producer Ramon Mappala. Marietta Ganapin and Ernest Concepcion were our first Resident Artists. We had Vicente Rafael a Historian from the Washington University come and do a salon style talk on Sept. 21st, the anniversary of the infamous Martial Law during the Marcos regime. Then in November we hosted a group show of Four Filipino painters, Jojo Austria, Jeho Bitancor, Feliciano Gallardo and Art Zamora with a special performance by two Sunnyside locals, Violists Margret Hjaltested and Poet Lorraine Schein. And to close the exhibition in December another Sunnyside local Hide Inaba perfromed with his band the  Hiban, with Carmen Arroyo, Marc K’urli, Tsuyoshi Niwa and Shiou Funayama. I am honored to have had all this amazing and terrific people come and share their art,, writings and poetry and music. It was an honor. We are also happy that we are making new friends in the community and getting their support. And most important Carolina and I could not have done all these without the support of our family and close friends near and far and the new friends we made as well. Thank you guys from the bottom of our hearts. So now we set our sights on our exciting 2012 program as we welcome new artists to the growing Bliss on Bliss Art Projects Family.  Stay tuned for more updates
