fish is a drama based on true events exploring the conflict between American born fishermen on The Gulf of Mexico and recent Vietnamese immigrants entering the industry.  It is a fast-paced and emotionally engaging exploration of the competition for limited resources among America’s working poor, the unresolved conflicts brought about by America’s involvement in Vietnam, and the tenuous pursuit of the American dream amidst cultural bias and racism.

SEEKING ACTORS TO PORTRAY THE FOLLOWING ROLES:

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN

NGUYEN:  A Vietnamese shrimp fisherman who uses cut-throat and often illegal tactics derived from his past struggles to survive.  Widowed, he places all his hope (and pressure) on his one remaining son to restore the family's prosperity.

THANH:  Nguyen's son, about the age of Rick and Billy, who skips school to escape the harassment of his classmates.  He is both awed by and resentful of his father's rigid values.

DUC:  An orphan (about 20 or 30) taken in by Nguyen in Saigon, after losing his family and village in a napalm attack.  While he helps Nguyen on his boat, he deals drugs to make "real money," and he still views all Americans as murderers.
