"Hi Bivas! I remember that this is the image we used during the gala last year! Thanks again for letting us use it. When will we see you next? It has been a while since we have seen you at Town Hall. The next one is May 4, I hope you can make it."

Indiawest: Filling Space with Energy and Art: Bivas Chaudhuri ...
ARTIST STATEMENT:
My current work is involved with space, which is full of energy. I use repetitive visual elements and meditative process to energize the whole space. The highly structured slowly changing imagery is a close resemblance of my deep state of mind. It is emblematic of modern times mixed with personal feelings and impression.

"His current work has become more, or one could say, less geometric, far more colorful with a clear bright palette and greater sophistication in choices, and so musical, how much a parallel to jazz or Phillip Glass I would let others say. The simplicity of his forms has given way to a greater complexity but the fundamental structure of his work, the terms he selects for himself, is always quite explicit. Clearly, a greater momentum and confidence is evident." - Robert Lee, Director/ Curator, Asian American Art Center , New York

"The repetitive pattern-like compositions of Bivas are breathtaking. The choice of colors and the mesmerizing effect of the visuals shows an artist who understands the intricate working of the human mind." Hypenated Spirit, Online Magazine New York

In order to make a substantial stride in the development of his most recent art and historically most significant work that I have known from him.,
Michael R. Chisolm, Art Critic, Dir. Triangle Arts, Prof.

At the Asian American Art Center of his creations, the exhibition’s curator Robert Lee stated “…I see the abstractions of chaudhuri ( and Fiaro ) as a pointer to the use of human consciousness; to what to do with consciousness itself.”
Cecelia Levin, Art historian, Southeast Asian Art & Archaelogy
Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York

"The painting emits a new orderliness," Michele Wilson, Queens Chronicle

"A space of his own", The Telegraph, india
Your Creative Influences
The dramatic changes in the weather in this part of Norway, that the artist ( as well as the rest of us ) has been experiencing this winter are expressed in pictures full of lively colors in combination with gray scales, where movement & overlapping transitions are dominant.
The pictures are characterized by an energetic approach to the sorroundings, however, the pictures avoid to end up in a chaos as the total image is built by square shaped areas that in total creates a system of harmony.
Gustav Shivus Borgersen, Art critic, Norway,18.03.10
