Your Artistic Background/Mission
I communicate a variety of subject matter in my work - from figure studies to social commentaries and biographical narratives to landscapes. In my current study of trees, I am drawn to and convey the natural structure of trees through mixed intaglio etching techniques and also drypoint and burin-engraving. The final results are often reinterpretations of the original. Exhibiting turbulent textures and the exaggerated twists of branches these forms convey the silent violence and strength in trees that are often recognized as a palpable presence.

Your Creative Influences
When asked of my artistic pursuits, I identify myself as a printmaker. It is not only the love of the line, textures and imagery created by etching techniques but the process that is as equally and vitally important - specifically the struggle with the tools and plate to find and bring forth the image that
one is trying to achieve. Every line, no matter how accidental, adds to the language of the image and subsequently to the approach of my work as well.
