Crossings

5 – 6PM
Movement, choreography and music evoke the emotional resonance of crossings - across the stage, across the world, over land and sea, across cultural boundaries and languages. Michael Mao Dance presents Crossings, a vibrant and engaging 45-minute interactive performance that celebrates the raw power and diversity of immigrants’ contributions to American Modern Dance. The program features four works choreographed by Michael Mao including Crossings, Andante Amoroso, a lyrical landscape rendered by four couples, exquisite movement and the seductive cadences of Brahms, Weaving, a propulsive motion powerhouse driven by Kodo’s taiko drums, and China Moves (Phase I), a collaboration between Mao and composer Huang Ruo.
