Culture Bridge: Japanese Dance - Linking Verses with Dance Improvisation

On Thursday, March 14th, 2024 from 6-7pm, join QPL - Flushing Library for a special evening of poetry and movement! Sachiyo Ito will present the unique, traditional art of linking poetic verses to dance, which was developed in Japan in the 10th century. The program will introduce the poetry of Waka, the fixed form of medieval times, and Haiku, the shortest fixed form known worldwide. The audience will have a chance to create or bring their own verses and have Sachiyo Ito and her dance company create dances for them.

This program will be a live presentation with the option for the audience to join virtually.
