Fall 2011 Acting and Writing Lab with Ernest Abuba

Schedule: Mondays October 24 – December 26, 2011 (no class Nov 14) 6:30pm – 9:30pm w/ public presentation: Tuesday, December 27 at 7:00pm

Classical training, monologues and scene work for actors, and original pieces developed by lab process for writers. Students will come to the Class with a piece in mind to work on. Previous students have gone on to perform their works nationally and internationally, and in NYC at HERE, Chashama, PS122, and in Pan Asian showcases and other venues.

Instructor: ERNEST ABUBA, playwright, director, and Obie Award Winning Actor for his role in YELLOW FEVER. Major roles in Broadway’s PACIFIC OVERTURES, LOOSE ENDS. TV: “Kung Fu,” “Adderly” Film:Twelve Monkeys,” “King Of New York” His plays include: KWATZ! THE TIBETAN PROJECT, CAMBODIA AGONISTES, EAT A BOWL OF TEA, AN AMERICAN STORY, and LEIR REX. Screenplays produced by Wing Prdns, and CBS/PBS: “Mariana Bracetti,” Osceola,” Arthur A. Schomburg,” “Lilac Chen,” “Asian American Railroad Strike,” and “Iroquois Confederacy.” He is currently on the theater faculty at Sarah Lawrence College.

Tuition: $315 for 9 sessions Previous Pan Asian students are eligible for 20% discount ($253).
