MOCA Resident Performing Artist Workshop

MOCA’s first cohort of resident performing artists will conduct workshops to share their experiences, skills and artistry. Saxophonist/Composer/Bandleader Ben Chin, aka saxofshaolin, will present a workshop on producing Chinese and African diasporic music, and how the traditions combined in the Caribbean. In this workshop, participants will dive into three foundational elements of Jamaican and Chinese music: the pentatonic scale, bitonality, and spirituality in music, and will be invited to practice some of these elements themselves. The workshop is free and open to artists.
