New Music at the Howland Cultural Center: featuring works by Asian-American Composers

As a part of the Asian-American heritage celebration month, the Howland Center will present a concert featuring works by some of the greatest composers today including Huang Ruo, Phyllis Chen, Reza Vali, and Chinary Ung, while also presenting works by Zoltan Kodály and Béla Bartók to highlight their enduring legacy.

Joseph Lin, as the first violinist of the renown Juilliard String Quartet, has been hailed by the New York Times as “glorious…warm, flexible, and perfectly centered”. He will be performing and featuring one his own compositions, Trio for Friends. The other performers are leading performers in the classical and contemporary music scene and include violinists Alex Shiozaki and Johnna Wu, pianist Nana Shi, cellist Timothy Leonard, violist Caeli Smith, and clarinetist Eric Umble.
