Monday, February 24, 2014
9:30 – 11AM

How often do you tell your organization’s story to members of the business community? How do you choose which data points to include in order for your stories to have impact? This workshop will explore what information is most important to businesses, and discuss how to craft a story supported by data that will resonate with your audience. Then we’ll work with examples from CDP’s reporting features to gain experience pairing stories and data together for maximum impact. The workshop will include:

Making a Case: a step-by-step process for making a case, including defining your audience, building a case, identifying proof, and crafting a story Workshop: small groups will work on making a case for several different scenarios, using sample CDP reports to craft a story and pair it with relevant data points, based on scenarios such as a meeting with a corporate funder, recruiting new board members at a young professionals event, convincing a local business to partner on hosting events, and discussing pro bono services with a consulting firm. Presentation: each group will present its case, and discuss what worked and what didn’t, and what data points they selected

After this session you will be able to apply what you’ve learned to support your talking points with data from CDP’s reporting tools, or other sources your organization may have available.
