The evocative songs of the Dong people include everything from festive drinking music and ritual courtships to solemn historical narratives. Pre-performance discussion at 7:00 pm, with Ren Hexin, Director, Dimen Dong Culture Eco-Museum; Joanna Lee, musicologist and co-Founder, Western China Cultural Ecology Research Workshop; and Ken Smith, arts critic, Financial Times.
