Film Screening & Discussion: "A Tale of Two Syrias" by Yasmin Fedda (Director & Actor in Attendance)

Yasmin Fedda is an award winning documentary filmmaker who has been BAFTA nominated and screened at Sundance. Her work includes: Breadmakers (Cadies Productions, UK, 2007) about a bakery run by adults with learning difficulties. This film has screened at over 50 international film festivals including Sundance and won multiple awards including the Black Pearl Award (Best Short Documentary – Abu Dhabi Film Festival), and a BAFTA nomination. A Tale of Two Syrias (Syria/UK, 2012) follows the lives of a monk and a fashion designer in Syria before the current conflict began. The film has been screened internationally at festivals including Bird’s Eye View (London); Siamo Tornati (Italy/UK, 2013) follows the experiences of Gianni, a boxing teacher who has occupied an abandoned government building. This film was funded in part by a Creative Scotland fellowship at the British School at Rome.
