The Rubin Museum of Art will hold a conference in conjunction with the opening of Quentin Roosevelt’s China: Ancestral Realms of the Naxi. The exhibition showcases the unique art and artifacts as encountered approximately seventy years ago by Quentin Roosevelt, grandson of President Theodore Roosevelt, when he visited Lijiang, China, to research the Naxi for his Harvard University thesis. The two-day symposium will examine Naxi life and art in the past, present and future. Anthropologists, linguists, preservationists and industry professionals will exchange knowledge and pose questions about the current situation and present some solutions for the future.
